“leviathan”

Taken from a passage of Moby Dick, "leviathan" was a 300 foot long path of crushed coal. The text was laid on top of the coal in clear ground glass. Left for the length of a summer exhibition, the words slowly dissolved, mingling with the black coal bedding.
